I needed some new place mats, so what better thing to do than dream up my own pattern for them! I wanted to keep the design of this farmhouse crochet place mat simple and elegant and I was inspired by the Bernat Handicrafter cotton yarn in Jute. It’s a color that goes with anything, any style, any design.

I kept the design of this crochet place mat simple by only adding edging with Puff Stitches and keeping the rest of it flat and light with Moss Stitch. The result is a beautiful edging on the sides that showcases your meal and your dinnerware beautifully.

Could I make it with acrylic yarn?

You sure can! Just be sure not to put anything too hot on it. Let me know how they work out!
