I don’t know about all of you, but I’m still in hygge-mode, which means comfy cozy sweaters like this Beverley Crochet Cocoon Sweater. I’m sure soon, I’ll be switching my mind to spring and summer makes, but right now, I still want to hibernate π
The Beverley crochet cocoon cardi came to mind thinking of my Mother (whose name was obviously Beverley lol). As a child, my Mom taught my sister and I how to crochet and I know she is smiling down on me now and able to see how much joy this craft brings to my life.
I am always down for a quick cardi that can be thrown on quickly, work over multiple outfits and keeps me from chills and drafts. That’s why a crochet cocoon cardi works so well. The stitch used here, triple crochet cross behind, gives the piece a gorgeous lattice-work appearance and keeps it from being too heavy while still giving that squishy warmth. I used one of my favorite go-to Category 4 yarns, which is the Caron One Pound in Light Terracotta.
This crochet cocoon sweater is truly an easy make and I know you have time to make one before spring arrives — that being said, this makes a great spring sweater too!

PATTERN AND SIZING NOTES |
– For this Beverley Crochet Cocoon Sweater, you must have knowledge of: working in the BB of the foundation chain, skipping a stitch, single crochet, triple crochet, triple crochet cross-behind and working ribbing on to a piece. – This crochet cocoon cardi is made as one piece in a rectangle, the 2 short ends are folded together and seamed with a hole left for the sleeve and the cuff and collar ribbing are added last. – The Triple Crochet Cross Behind Stitch is created by skipping a stitch and doing a TC in the next stitch, then crossing BEHIND that stitch to do another TC in the stitch you skipped. Cross behind, not in front. – Because this is a loose fit cardi, the sizes are grouped as such: XS/X then M/L then XL/2XL then 3XL/4XL then 5XL – Turning CHβs do NOT count as stitches. – The stitch count is given in parentheses ( ) at the end of each row. |

BEVERLEY CROCHET COCOON SWEATER: COLLAR, CUFFS & ASSEMBLY:
– Place the rectangle of the crochet cocoon cardi with the wrong side facing you and the long edge horizontally. Fold in half from the top down toward you.
– Find your middle row, which should be where the fold is and mark it. Count out the following number of rows on either side and this will be your sleeve hole
XS/S: count out 3 rows either side for a total of 7 rows and mark the outside of those rows
M/L: Count out 4 rows either side for a total of 9 rows and mark the outside of those rows
XL/2XL: Count out 4 rows either side for a total of 9 rows and mark the outside of those rows
3XL/4XL: Count out 5 rows either side for a total of 11 rows and mark the outside of those rows.
5XL: Count out 6 rows either side for a total of 13 rows and mark the outside of those rows:
– Seam from your marked STβs down to the bottom using any seaming method of your choice, tie off (I do whip stitch)
– Turn your work right side out
– At the top of the seam on each side, tie on and place 3 x SC in each of the rows in the sleeve round. SL ST to join and CH 26 + 1 to start your sleeve cuff worked perpendicular to the piece.
– In the 1st CH from the hook, SC in the BB and in each ST down, SL ST in to the same ST you SL STβd to join then SL ST in the next S as well, turn your work, skip the 2 SL STβs you just made and start SCBLO back up the row ending on a regular SC in the last ST, CH 1 to turn and do SCBLO back down the row placing a SL ST in each of the next 2 STβs (we only SL ST in our working ST for that first row of the ribbing)
– Repeat this SCBLO all around the sleeve and SL ST or whip stitch (with a tapestry needle) to join.
– Repeat this for both sleeve cuffs
– For the collar/hem ribbing, find the bottom middle ST of your work and, with the right side facing you, CH 18 + 1 to turn and do the same as the sleeves, making a SCBO ribbing ALL the way around the opening and when youβre back to the first row, SL ST or whip stitch (with a tapestry needle) to join. Tie off and weave in all ends.VOILA, the definition of hygge with this crochet cocoon sweater. Cheers to winter hibernation!
